EMCHI, Nov 25: The second edition of ‘Ecocamp 2.0’ was inaugurated here in Papum Pare district on Saturday by Tourism Director Abu Tayeng, in the presence of DC Pige Ligu, SP Jimmy Cheram, and Capital SP Tumme Amo.
The camp is situated on an island in the middle of the Pare river. Run by NGO Being Arunachalee (BA), the camp will remain open from November to March.
Spread over the vast island, the camp is a visitor’s delight. It offers facilities and pastimes like snooker board, local traditional sports, a music café, zip-lining, local and international cuisines, traditional huts, firewood camps, children’s playground, picnic spot, etc.
Tayeng commended BA for coming up with the concept of the eco-camp, and assured it of every possible help in conducting Ecocamp 2.0.
Ligu on his part urged everyone to try engaging themselves in such innovative ideas.
“The combination of positive ideas and hard work can play a critical role in shaping the lives of the youths. Innovative ideas like Ecocamp 2.0 should be supported by everyone,” the DC said.
BA president Ringu Kuku and Ecocamp chairman Nabam Tado said the camp “is being organised not for self-benefit but to offer service to the needy people.”
