Spring shed based watershed dev. project introduced in Jumi village

KIMIN, Dec 2: Aspring shed based water shed development project was introduced in Jumi village here under Papum Pare district recently with the aim to increase the discharge of spring water.
Funded by the NABARD Arunachal to rejuvenate the spring water and the livelihood of the community in the area, the project was executed under North East Initiative Development Agency’s (NEIDA) AR.
The project aims at solving problems related to five natural resources i.e. land, water, forest, and livestock and human.
According to the NABARD authorities, there is acute scarcity of water for irrigation purposes and discharge of the springs in watershed is also decreasing in the area while, reduced availability of fodder has caused less livestock production.
In order to tackle these problems, project associates NEIDA-AR has proposed to construct farm ponds which will increase the availability of water for irrigation purpose. They also suggested ground water recharge activities such as recharge pond, trenches etc.
