NEW DELHI, Dec 17: The promoter of Arunachal Pradesh mega food park, Likha Maj, has appealed to the union ministry of food processing industries (MoFPI) to give priority to Arunachal.
He made the appeal during the inter-ministerial committee of approval (IMAC) meeting held here on Tuesday.
The meeting, which was chaired by union MoFPI Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal and saw the participation of officials of 20 ministries, besides the NABARD and the NITI Aayog, discussed the potential of the food processing industry to realize the slogan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double the farmers’ income by 2022.
Maj told the IMAC that the recently-concluded ‘Northeast Mega Food Festival-cum-Chief Ministers’ Conclave’ at Meghalaya capital Shillong was a great success. In his presentation, he said the upcoming mega food park in Arunachal, which will be spread over 50 acres of land, “is leasable for 99 years.”
“The state government will provide all the basic facilities for early commissioning of the mega food park, and the cabinet committee on infrastructure recently approved to provide basic facilities, such as power, water and road connectivity,” he said.
Maj urged the MoFPI to accord priority to Arunachal “for setting up of 10 unit industries under creation and expansion of food processing and preservation centre (CEFPPC) scheme in the current financial year.”
The scheme will have provision for setting up cold chains and mini-food parks to promote the local entrepreneurs, Maj informed.
The union minister on her part assured to look into the demands, and said she will visit the state around February next year.
