PASIGHAT, Jan 8: The NERIST’s agriculture department, in collaboration with the East Siang KVK, organized a ‘Demonstration programme on ergonomically developed ladder’ at Ayang, Tekang and Ranaghat villages here on 7 and 8 January.
Such ladders help in increasing the plucking rate and reduce fruit damage and accidents. About 25 farmers participated in the programme, which was sponsored by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research through the NERIST centre of the AICRP on ESA.
The programme was conducted in the orange farms of Yang Perme, Baitem Jerang and Putom Perme. Agricultural engineering scientist RK Salam and plant protection scientist Toge Riba were the resource persons.
