SAGALEE, Sep 25: MLA Nabam Tuki on Sunday inaugurated one day awareness cum training programme for women of rural communities, which was organized by the National Rural Livelihoods Mission.
Inaugurating the training cum awareness programme, Tuki expressed happiness to witness the participation of local women and self help groups, terming them key to the development of rural people.
He also appealed to the villagers to take up horticulture and agriculture farming for more benefits, and assured to construct marketing shed along the roadside of Trans-Arunachal Highway at Leporiang, Toru and Sagalee for rural women to sell their product for economic sustainability.
He advised the department officers and ADC Sagalee to encourage village self help groups by organising meetings, trainings and by awarding best farmers annually, to make them competitive.
Tuki further appealed to the officers to sincerely deliver their services to uplift the rural people of the state and area.
Sagalee ADC, Jalash Pertin advised the women self help groups to take full benefit of the scheme for self employment and assured all support.
Experts and trainers from Andhra Pradesh, who are working with women groups in the villages, also attended the programme and provided training.
Officers from the Department of Rural Development also attended the programme.
