Develop strong civic sense to realize dream of ‘Clean India’: DC

TEZU, Oct 9: Lohit Deputy Commissioner, Karma Leki called upon the people to develop an attitude towards cleanliness to realize the dream of Swachh Bharat.
People must change their mindset and develop a strong civic sense to achieve the vision of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, said the Deputy Commissioner during a meeting on ‘Swachhta Pakhwada’ on Monday.
The Deputy Commissioner also advised everyone to maintain high degree of health and sanitation practices, such as regular hand washing before and after meals, after using bathroom, drinking safe and clean water, etc.
He also discouraged habits, like chewing pan/ masala/ gutkha and spitting on walls and floors and on the streets; dirtying them.
The Deputy Commissioner administered the Swachhta pledge to the officials to create awareness on cleanliness and hygiene in workplaces.
He appealed to all the officials and staff to become agents in successful implementation of Swachhta Pakhwada and educate at least 100 people on the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
The representatives of District Hospital, Tezu conducted demonstration on hand washing techniques.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was launched on October 2, 2014 with a vision to dedicate Clean India on 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, 2019. It envisions a clean India with specific emphasis on eliminating open defecation by 2019. (DIPRO)
