Youths exhorted to take up tourism activities for livelihood

BORUM, Oct 9: Tourism and Planning Secretary, Dr Joram Beda exhorted unemployed youths of the state to take up tourism activities as means of livelihood.
Celebrating the ‘Paryatan Parv’ (tourism festival) at ILP facilitation centre at Railway Station, Naharlagun, Dr Beda said tourism and related activities in the state have increased manifold with constant inflow of tourists after the introduction of train services.
The state having immense potential in tourism sector can generate plenty of employment opportunities for the youths. They can engage themselves in various tourism related activities and small businesses to earn livelihood, Dr Beda said and opined that tourism alone can solve the unemployment problem on a larger scale.
The Tourism Secretary asked the security personnel deployed in the railway station to remain alert to ensure that no person enters into the state illegally.
Officials of the Tourism Department and All Pradesh Tour Operators Association were also present and spoke on the occasion.
Earlier, students of Government Middle School, Borum cleaned the surrounding of the railway station.
A roadside tree plantation was also carried out to mark the occasion.
