ITANAGAR, Oct 10: Saddened by the recent death of three tourists in Tawang in a road accident, the Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association (APTOA) said that safety and security of tourists should be the top priority at all times.
The APTOA said that local tour operators should be given the responsibility as they are well acquainted with the roads and routes of this hill state and all tourists and tourism related activities should be routed through local registered tour operators.
In a meeting on Monday, the APTOA deeply mourned the death of the tourists and observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
The meeting also reviewed the World Tourism Day held at Namsai.
Describing the Namsai edition of the World Tourism Day a beginning of new era for development of tourism in eastern part of the state, the APTOA said it would make efforts to promote and market eastern Arunachal as the next best tourist destination of the state.
The meeting decided to take up the issue of PAP for foreign tourists with the government authority.
It said that the XIIth Arunachal Travel Congress has been postponed in view of the ongoing Paryatan Parv celebration and the Travel Congress will be organized in January, 2018.
