ZIRO, Nov 8: Minister UD, Town Planning and Land Management, Nabam Rebia on Wednesday dedicated a double-storied parking lot with capacity of 114 cars at Ziro.
The parking lot, constructed at a cost of 869.71 lakhs, can accommodate 32 cars on the ground floor, 50 cars in the second and 32 cars on the terrace and has six public utility rooms.
Speaking on the occasion, Rebia said, “For the beautiful but land-scarce Ziro valley, this building will go a long way in solving parking and traffic problems. The government endeavors to provide all basic civic amenities to the public. In return, you have to inculcate a sense of social responsibility and avoid destroying, staining and littering these assets.”
He also expressed dismay at the the stalled work of the outdoor stadium and directed UD Deputy Director, S C Maru to take cognizance of the situation and direct the contractor concerned to renew work on the site.
Terming good connectivity as the basic need for a vibrant economy, he appealed to the denizens of Lower Subansiri to cooperate with the authorities for early execution of TAH and operationalisation of the ALG at Ziro.
Responding to the memorandum submitted by local MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, Tage Taki, the Minister assured to facilitate construction of dumping ground after a suitable land is identified.
He further assured to reflect the procurement of hydraulic tractors to lift garbage from Ziro-Hapoli Township in SADA and further revealed that under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, A Swachh Machine (garbage recycling) will be soon installed in Ziro.
Parliamentary Secretary Tage Taki and Chief Engineer Urban Development Taba Tedir also gave their inputs. (DIPRO)
