ROING, Nov 9: The All Idu Mishmi Students Union (AIMSU), along with students, PRI members, Dibang Women group and the general public of Dibang Valley on Thursday organised a peaceful demonstration in front of DC Office Anini, as its first phase of democratic process, following the alleged failure of district administration to initiate departmental enquiry and to take disciplinary action against the government officials involved in the confinement and serving of alcohol to three minor girls at their official quarters.
Thee head offices of the Executive Engineer, PWD, and Deputy Director, DUDA have been locked by the protestors for non – compliance of the letter served to them demanding for the departmental inquiry and disciplinary against officials involved in the case.
“We have decided to halt demonstration till 16th November, 2017 after getting a verbal assurance from the DC that he would take necessary action as required in this matter, failing which we shall be left with no choice but to go for another democratic means to get justice”, said the AIMSU.
The student body also informed that contrary to rumours that Anini has become a hostile place because of the case, there is no threat to anyone whatsoever and things are peaceful there.
“It is also mandatory to mention that demonstration and other actions of the union is to make sure that in near future, this kind of immoral incidents should never happen and it would give a clear message to all, including our children, not to get involved in such immoral activities”, added the student’s body.
The union further added that they have requested the authority not to transfer the officers involved in the case and not to release them until the case is solved, with assurance that there is no threat to their life and property.
