ITANAGAR, Nov 30: The United Sangdupota Intellectual Youth Forum (USIYF) held a “road block” protest against PWD Doimukh Division for alleged corruption, nepotism and arbitrary decision of awarding the tender work for maintenance work of the Itanagar to Jote road (24 Km) in Sangdupota Circle.
Heavy vehicles have been barred from going towards Jote area on the said stretch of road by the USIYF.
Their demands include immediate re-consideration on recently awarded work of the said road, which was awarded to an L5 bidder, allegedly depriving genuine L1 and L2 bidders and ouster of PWD Doimukh Division Executive Engineer.
USIYF Chairman Teli Tadap Camdir and General Secretary Tam Laniang said that the organisation is not against development, but such unfair means to award work was unacceptable.
Reacting to the ongoing democratic movement by the youths, local MLA Nabam Rebia said that the youths may have been misguided by some people and requested them to support the development of the area instead of opposing the construction and creating delays.
Rebia also clarified that the work awarding process was conducted by the department and he has no clear knowledge about it.
