Yupia, Dec 12: The Young Generation FC (YGFC) won the Gyamar Tajik Running Football Cup by defeating Khyoda FC (3-0) in the final of the 3rd Gyamar Tajik Memorial Football Tournament played at the Tigdo Middle School football ground here on Tuesday.
The winner team walked away with a cash prize of Rs 60,000 along with the running cup, while the runner-up was awarded cash prize of Rs 30,000 along with a trophy.
Takar Rari of YGFC and Gyamar Nai of Akum-11 FC were declared best player and highest scorer, respectively. The best goalkeeper award went to Tok Romjum.
Sixteen teams, including Capital Complex FC, from Papum Pare district took part in the tournament which had started on 2 December.
Addressing the closing ceremony, Home Parliamentary Secretary Pani Taram informed about the state government’s job reservation for meritorious sportspersons, and encouraged youths to take interest in sports activities. He also exhorted youths to refrain from vices.
Doimukh AS Chairperson Yab Lotus lauded late Gyamar Tajik as a pioneer in the establishment of Papum Pare district headquarters at Yupia. He appealed to the gathering, particularly youths, to work together for the development of Tigdo area.
Organising Chairman Gyamar Piter also spoke.
