AALO, Dec 14: Thousands took part in a ‘rally-cum-awareness programme’ organized here in West Siang district on Thursday by the Aalo unit of the Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society, along with the Paktu Ao Youth Association, the Memo Ao Youth Association and others to create awareness against growing criminal activities and repeated occurrence of sexual assault and abuse of minor girls.
The organizations urged the law enforcing agency to take strict action against offenders in cases of crime against minor girls. They also appealed to the authorities to initiate steps to check trafficking of minors for sex racket, as well as drug abuse in the district.
They strongly advocated establishing a women’s police station or a women’s cell in the district. (DIPRO)
