AAPPTF demands shifting of factory

ITANAGAR, Feb 17: The All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) has demanded that the state government shift of the Shree Salasar Factory (SMS Smelter) located at Lekhi village, stating that the factory has been polluting the environment and causing serious health hazards.
In a representation it submitted on behalf of the affected people to the chief secretary, the AAPPTF stated that the factory has been emitting hazardous gases round the clock, causing ailments.
It said that the pollution from the factory is also affecting the healthy growth of vegetables and other crops in the area.
Lekhi area has become an important commercial hub of the state, which is also close to the railway station at Borum, the helipad at Dokum, and the trucks and bus terminals at Lekhi village etc,” said the representation.
