Committee alleges violation of norms; seek governor’s intervention

ITANAGAR, Mar 26: The Seppa-Chayang Tajo Road Steering Committee in a representation to the governor on Monday sought his intervention into the alleged violation of norms concerning work agreement made between the government officials and Gammon Engineers & Contractors Pvt Ltd pertaining to the construction of the Seppa-Chayang Tajo road.
The committee alleged that in a meeting of the PWD chief engineer (western zone) with PWD officials and representatives of Gammon India, it was decided that the construction work would be offered to Gammon India.
”Accordingly, as per a letter dated 02.02.2017, the chief engineer (WZ) sought final approval of signing of supplementary agreement between Gammon India and GoAP. But to the utter surprise and dismay of the people, the government official entered into agreement of contract with a third party, Gammon Engineers & Contractors Pvt Ltd, instead. How was a third party allowed by the authorities concerned to execute the contract agreement?” the committee sought to know, describing it a forgery.
The committee has sought immediate revocation of supplement work agreement with Gammon Engineers & Contractors Pvt Ltd, and an order to initiate ‘stringent departmental inquiry against the erring officials.’
