Workshop on National Pension System held

ITANAGAR, Apr 16: The accounts & treasuries directorate organised a workshop on the National Pension System (NPS), in collaboration with the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority and the National Securities Depository Limited, at Dorjee Khandu Convention Centre here on Monday.
Chief Secretary In-charge Kaling Tayeng explained the benefits of the NPS over the GPF (General Provident Fund), which was the pension system that the government had adopted earlier.
He said that the NPS, in which the government makes an equal contribution, is beneficial to both the employees as well as the government.
“The Arunachal Pradesh government had introduced the NPS in 2007 for all its regular employees who were appointed on or after 1 January, 2008. Here, a government servant has to contribute 10% of his basic pay, dearness pay and dearness allowance while the government too makes an equal matching contribution,” he said.
Finance and accounts officers, along with treasury and sub-treasury officers attended the workshop. Finance Secretary YW Ringu and Accounts & Treasuries Director Techi Tedi were also present. (DIPR)
