AALO, Apr 17: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan visited the West Siang Women Handloom and Weavers’ Society (WSWHWS) here on Monday to take stock of the progress of work at its centre.
WSWHWS president Yakar Jempen, vice-chairman Kirken Ete, and secretary Hoksum Ori briefed the DC on ongoing activities and sought financial help from her office for establishing a showroom and a work shed.
The DC was accompanied by DRCS Kenbi Riba and Circle Officer Omey Apang.
Sachan also visited the Siang Transport Cooperative Society (STCS) Ltd and held discussions with District Cooperative Union chairperson Ribi Rime and others about reviving defunct bus services, and about the STCS’ liabilities and infrastructure needs.
Promising support from the administration to revive the STCS’ lost glory, the DC exhorted its members to work sincerely. (DIPRO)
