MP seeks collective effort for establishing model village

MIKONG, Apr 17: Member of Parliament Ninong Ering called for collective effort to achieve the goal of turning Mikong into a model village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).
“We must make collective effort to create the model village and to have sustainable amenities and infrastructure, besides focusing on health, education, and livelihood opportunities,” Ering said in a meeting held here on Monday.
Highlighting the vision for creating a model village under the SAGY, Ering said sustainable amenities and infrastructure in terms of rural roads, achieving 100% ODF status, and having proper drainage system, clean potable water supply and other facilities can be created along with upgrading infrastructure.
“The progress of the implementation will be keenly monitored,” he said.
Local MLA Tatung Jamoh, who accompanied Ering, sought public support and proactive effort by the development departments for successful implementation of the SAGY in Mikong village.
He emphasized on creating quality infrastructure and amenities for sustainable growth.
The MLA also urged the villagers to get enrolled for Aadhaar in order to avail the benefits of welfare schemes. He also took note of the villagers’ demand for posting a medical officer at the health sub-centre here, and for subject teachers.
East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak urged the panchayat leaders to play a lead role in turning Mikong into a model village.
Speaking on the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan, Tatak said, “It is an outreach campaign launched by the Government of India to facilitate rural people in availing the benefits of social welfare programmes during the 21-day campaign from 14 April to 5 May.
“Various commemorative days focusing of health, sanitation, agriculture and allied activities for farmers, etc, will be organized,” he added.
The heads of various government departments highlighted the schemes in their respective departments. (DIPRO)
