Protect nature: Rebia

TIGDO, Apr 20: Urban Development Minister Nabam Rebia on Friday stressed the need to protect nature, and highlighted environmental issues than may affect future generations.
Participating in a plantation programme coinciding with the inauguration of a volleyball tournament here in Papum Pare district, the minister said planting trees and ensuring a clean environment were a collective responsibility, and urged the panchayat members, youths and others to make Tigdo and its adjoining areas “clean, green and beautiful.”
He also administered to the gathering a pledge to protect nature.
Rebia advised the youths to be responsible, understand the dignity of labour, devote their time to studies, and refrain from indulging in antisocial activities.
Responding to a memorandum pertaining to construction of a CC road from Trans-Arunachal Highway at Tigdo-I&II to the government middle school, construction of a protection wall and land protection at Tigdo-I & II from PWD road to the government middle school, and construction of school fencing wall, Rebia assured to address the issues and directed the UD deputy director to prepare an estimate for the CC road and the retaining wall.
UD Parliamentary Secretary Techi Kaso, who accompanied Rebia, urged the people to maintain and preserve their culture and identity, and appealed to the youths to devote their time to meaningful work and uplifting the society.
Government officials, panchayat members, GBs, students and others were present during the programme, which was organized by the Tigdo Youth Welfare Association. (DIPRO)
