ROING, Apr 21: The second U-16 district level football tournament for Lower Dibang Valley got underway at Parbuk ground here on Friday after it was kicked off by Sports Authority of India Special Area Game Vice Chairman Doni Nich.
The first match was played between Roing U-16 team and Parbuk U-16 team, which Roing won 2-0.
Nich appreciated the organisers for conducting the tournament and encouraging sports among the youngsters, and also for spreading brotherhood through such events.
DSO Raju Mipi said there has been noticeable improvement in the tournament with increase in participation.
The tournament, which is being organized by the Parbuk Village Sports Committee, is an open-to-all event for all the blocks in the district.
Sixteen teams are participating in it this year.
