EMPONG, May 2: One Chow Govinda Manang was found dead, with his left ear severed, at Empong village under Chongkham circle of Namsai district on 1 May.
Chongkham Police outpost Officer-in-Charge SI D Singpho informed that the body was found lying face-down by a local in an irrigational channel, who informed the police at around 2.30 PM.
During post mortem, it was also found that the victim’s spine had fractures, and the police suspect murder.
The victim’s brother also suspected that late Manang was murdered on the night of 30 April and accordingly wrote to the OC to take necessary action and book the culprit at the earliest.
Terming the incident “inhuman and barbaric”, the North East Human Rights Organization has also asked the Namsai superintendent of police for swift action.
