DC launches eraktkosh web portal

PASIGHAT, May 14: East Siangt Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak launched the ‘eraktkosh’ web portal at the Bakin Pertin General Hospital here on Monday during a blood donation camp organised by the Kepang Erang Yameng Kebang (KEYK) to mark Etor Gidii festival.
The web portal is a central government initiative to digitalize all licensed blood banks in the country. Any person in need of blood can now log on to www.eraktkosh.in and look for availability status of blood in any blood bank in the country.
The mobile application can also be downloaded from Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
Earlier, 137 volunteers registered their names for blood donation and, after thorough medical check-up by experts, 36 were allowed to donate blood.
Tatak, who inaugurated the blood donation camp, laid stress on creating awareness and motivating people to be active members who can provide relief to fellow beings during epidemics or natural calamities.
“Blood is a scarce resource. There is a huge gap between demand and availability,” he said, adding that “blood cannot be manufactured and only comes from generous donors.”
Later, JDHS Dr D Raina, during a visit to the Blood Component Separation Unit, informed the DC that necessary infrastructure is ready but equipment from the government is awaited in order to make the unit operational.
Administrative officials and members of the KEYK were also present during the programme. (DIPRO)
