Union serves ultimatum to DC

TAWANG, May 14: The All Tawang District Students’ Union (ATDSU) and members of ‘Operation Clean Drive’ on Monday served the Tawang deputy commissioner 25 days’ ultimatum to fulfill its various demands.
The union’s demands include drive against encroachers on government land; cancellation of regularization of two land allotments made recently by the land management director; cancellation of illegal and fake ST certificates issued to several families; and constituting a joint committee to verify the refugee card holders of Tawang.
Citing the shortage of NCERT textbooks in the district, the union demanded that the administration make the textbooks available in the schools. It also asked the DC to reshuffle the teachers within the district.
The ATDSU said it would launch a democratic movement if its demands are not met.
