ILP checks continue, 283 deported so far

ITANAGAR, May 16: As many as 135 persons without valid Inner Line Permits (ILP) were caught from Itanagar and Naharlagun area in the last few days, and later deported from the state through Banderdewa check gate.
The check drive was carried out by the capital administration with help of the state police following an order by Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan.
During the ILP check drive on Wednesday morning, two persons were also caught with two sacks of ganja weighing approximately 70kg at Itanagar, informed Itanagar EAC Hengo Basar.
The vehicle used for the purpose has also been seized, he informed.
A case has been registered against the duo at Itanagar police station U/S 20(b) (ii) C Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and investigation launched, informed SDPO K Sikom.
With this, the total number of persons (without ILP) caught and deported from elsewhere in the state rose to 283 (Longding-101, West Kameng- 47).
Earlier, the DC vide an order also directed the SP of Itanagar-Capital Complex and all the administrative officers to carryout intensive checks of ILPs and to deport those caught without valid ILPs beyond the inner line jurisdiction.
He also directed the SP to intensify the drive at all the check gates of Capital Complex.
