Panchayat leaders asked to act against child abuse

ROING, May 16: All the Panchayat leaders and members were urged to act against the widespread prevalence of child labour and child abuse in Lower Dibang Valley district.
The meeting, chaired by CWC Chairperson, Dr Manaya Mena adopted a resolution to issue a letter to the Zilla chairperson in this regard during a coordination meeting held at the office of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Roing on Wednesday.
The members present in the meeting decided to issue warning letters to the employers, mediators and parents of runaway children; request the district administration to monitor sick room and rest room facilities in all residential and non-residential schools; and to create awareness in Dibang Valley and Lower Dibang Valley districts on child rights besides popularizing the child help line number.
Among others, Dr Ista Pulu, CWC member, Savitri Khamati, DD cum CWC member, D Linggi, Chairperson CWC Anini, Deta Umpe, probation officer, CCI (Nani Maria Children’s Home), Inspector S Paul, OC Roing, Child Welfare Police Officer, SI M Koyu, Child Protection Police Officer, and Napi Meto, protection officer, DCPU attended the meeting, according to an official release.
