ITANAGAR, May 18: Claiming that the rural electrification work in Upper Subansiri district (under Package No DDUGJY/ZEC/US/03 of the Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojana) has not been carried out as per the DPR, the All Upper Subansiri Village Students’ Welfare Association has sought cancellation of bill payment to the contractors concerned.
In a representation to the chief secretary, the association also demanded an inquiry into flawed installation of electric poles, transformers, and wires.
“The faulty installation of electric poles, transformers and wires pose a big threat to the domestic animals and villagers since many years. There are numerous reports of electric short circuit and casualties, but despite our repeated appeals to the executing agency, no action has been initiated so far in this regard,” it said.
