Farmers trained on horticultural skills

DEOMALI, May 18: Over a hundred farmers attended a programme on ‘Horticulture related skill training and assistance to farmers under MLALADS 2017-18’, conducted by the horticulture department at the community hall here in Tirap district on Friday.
Addressing the farmers, Deomali ADC P Tato urged them to give priority to horticulture and agriculture to boost their income, while District Horticulture Officer Henrik Basar elaborated the purpose and importance of skill development training.
The Deomali ZPM highlighted the grievances of the farmers, and stressed on providing horticulture crops as per the feasibility of the region’s agro-climatic condition.
Deomali KVK agronomist Dr Kalita Simanta made a PowerPoint presentation on the importance of organic cultivation, production of vermicompost, and cultivation of oyster mushroom.
Agriculture implements and cash incentives were also distributed to the trainees.
