Everester calls on governor

ITANAGAR, May 26: Everester Muri Linggi, accompanied by her husband Tamange Mipi, called on Governor BD Mishra at Raj Bhavan here on Saturday.
During their interaction, the governor advised her to create awareness to eliminate suicide cases in the Idu Mishmi community.
Congratulating Linggi on her Everest feat, Mishra said, “By conquering Mount Everest, she has proved that our sisters and daughters are tough, courageous, adventurous, enterprising, and meritorious.”
He said Linggi, being now a “youth icon,” must work for the uplift of the girl children in the state.
“Creating awareness on girl education is the most important step towards women empowerment,” he said, and also advised her to work on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the Dulari Kanya Yojana (which aims to bring down infant mortality and to provide better care to expecting mothers).
Linggi shared her experiences and her plan to master paragliding and develop adventure sports opportunities in her home district Lower Dibang Valley. (PRO, Raj Bhavan)
