PASIGHAT, Jun 4: State BJP president Tapir Gao laid the foundation stone for the party’s Siang zonal office at the GTC area here on Monday.
He was accompanied by Power Minister Tamiyo Taga, Health Minister Alo Libang, and a host of BJP MLAs and leaders.
Gao said the BJP is all set to establish zonal offices in its five zones to monitor party activities.
“The zonal offices will facilitate party workers in maintaining better coordination among different district committees at the time of elections,” he said.
The Siang zonal office will cover East Siang, Siang, West Siang, Upper Siang, and Lower Siang districts, according to party sources.
The party leaders had laid the foundation stones for the Kameng and the Subansiri zonal offices last month, and are planning to do the same in Lohit and Tirap this month.
The East Siang district BJP arranged the plot at the GTC area for setting up the Siang zonal office. It has submitted an estimate of Rs 3.75 crore for building and other construction works, which awaits sanction.
Talking to reporters here on Monday, Gao exuded confidence that the BJP would retain power in the frontier state after the next assembly elections.
Among others, BJP spokesman Tani Loffa, state committee secretary Tarh Tarak, East Siang district president Tamat Jonnom, and eastern parliamentary vistarak (in-charge) Boken Kino attended the foundation laying ceremony.
