Maj Gen, DCM discuss ways to involve PBSG to motivate students

ITANAGAR, Jun 5: Major General Jarken Gamlin called on Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein here on Tuesday, and the two discussed ways to involve the Pay Back to the Society Group (PBSG) of Arunachalee armed forces officers, both serving and retired, to interact, motivate and give career guidance to senior secondary level students to join as officers in the Indian armed forces.
During the interaction, Mein said the youths of the state would be greatly influenced and encouraged to join the armed forces seeing their elder brothers like Maj Gen Gamlin holding high posts in the Indian Army.
He lauded the major general for his personal interest and proactive approach for the purpose. He assured to provide logistic support from the state government for the career guidance programme, citing the growing unemployment among the state’s educated youths.
Mein added that there is natural potential and fitness in the tribal youths, “and the need of the hour is the right motivation and proper guidance to them.”
The DCM also expressed gratitude to Governor BD Mishra, who had initially invited the PBSG of Arunachalee armed forces officers to encourage the youths of the state through interaction and career guidance to join the armed forces.
Maj Gen Gamlin informed the DCM that a core group from the PBSG of Arunachal armed forces officers has been formed to initiate the career guidance programme in consultation with the education department. (PRO to DCM)
