In a press statement, Saaya said his “instruction to write a letter to the editorial team of The Arunachal Times to seek clarification on the authenticity and the basis of the letter written by Lollen within 15 days, with further consequence of defamation lawsuit in failure to do so, had been “misquoted” (although he did not mention by whom).
This daily had on Thursday received a notice from Saaya’s lawyer, threatening to sue The Arunachal Times for publishing the news regarding Lollen’s letter to the chief secretary, claiming that he was being threatened by Saaya and his family. The notice had stated that a defamation suit would be filed against this daily if it failed to pay Rs 100 crore within 15 days.
