CHANGLANG, Jun 19: Changlang Deputy Commissioner Wayong Khimhun has directed partner NGOs of the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) in the district to “perform or perish.”
The DC said this during a meeting here on Tuesday to review the schemes being implemented under the NERCORMP in the district.
“The primary objective of the project is to improve and transform the lives of the poorest of the poor in the district, and not for the interests of the NGOs,” he said.
The DC asked NERCORMP District Project Director (DPD) N Sukajit to “rationalize” the project villages allotted among the NGOs for better results. He also asked the DPD to submit the bank account numbers and Aadhaar card numbers of NaRM-Gs for monitoring the end usage of funds.
Highlighting the district’s huge potential for growing cash crops like large cardamom and areca nut, he urged the department and the NGOs to encourage people to grow these crops.
Earlier, the DPD presented the status of the NERCORMP schemes in the district, and the physical and financial achievements.
The meeting was attended by HoDs, partner NGOs, administrative officers, Changlang NERCORMP officials, and NABARD DDM Kamal Roy. (DIPRO)
