2 drug peddlers arrested

CHANGLANG, Jun 25: Two drugs peddlers were arrested by police during routine checking at Namdang check gate under Changlang district on 24 June.
The peddlers have been identified as Mungyan Matcha (30), a resident of PK Point, Changlang and Sengcham Tangha (41) of Changlang town near Changmi School. They were coming from Margherita, Assam side in an APST bus, informed Changlang SP JK Lego.
Opium weighing 210 grams (approx) in total was recovered from the duo.
Mungyan Matcha disclosed during spot interrogation that she bought the suspected opium from her grandfather, who hails from Ledo, Assam by paying Rs 4000. On the other hand, Sengcham Tangha bought the drugs from one Dhewshu Lama of Makum killa Tinali, Margherita, Assam by paying Rs 5000.
Meanwhile, the Miao unit police seized 20 small sachets containing suspected brown sugar during a raid, which was conducted in the house of one Inla Onggam Singpho of Gara Line, Miao.
During the raid, seven persons, including two jawans of 2nd IRBn attached with SDPO office, Miao, were also caught red-handed while consuming drugs.
