APCC says no to EVMs, NOTA

ITANAGAR, Jun 26: Stating that the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) supplied to Arunachal Pradesh were not in good condition and that the EVMs can be tampered with, the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has appealed to the state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to recommend to the Chief Election Commission of India for manual ballot papers.
The APCC stated that the world’s most advanced and developed countries, like USA, UK, Russia, Germany, China do not use EVMs.
“When those countries do not use EVMs, why is India so interested in the ‘controversial’ machine and NOTA, which do not have electoral value,” the APCC said in a release.
The party also urged the CEO to recommend for cancellation of ‘none of the above (NOTA)’ voting system in elections.
