ITANAGAR, Jun 28: Expressing concern over growing red tape in government offices causing harassment to the commoners in carrying out official work, the state unit of the North East Human Rights Organization (NEHRO) has urged the chief secretary (CS) to “take strict action for improving ease of doing business and official works.”
“Several complaints have been raised by many denizens over inordinate delays in official works like issue of mortgage certificates, trade licence, etc, in various districts. Such inordinate delays are clear indication of red tapism amounting to a major factor of corruptions,” NEHRO state unit vice president Fai Neri stated in a letter to the CS on Thursday.
He said bureaucrats should be directed to simplify official procedures by “making the processes online with simple formats and avoiding repetition of unnecessary questions and information.”
The organization urged state officials and the district administrations to “deal sensitively with people’s affairs, resolve their grievances and keep away from red-tapism.”
