ITANAGAR, Jun 28: Residents of the capital region will face shortage of drinking water on 29 and 30 June because of disruption caused to the water supply by landslide and erosion, the Itanagar PHE&WS division has informed.
“The 450 mm diameter water supply line from the Poma source and the 150 and 100 mm diameter supply line from the Lapu source have been disrupted due to landslide and erosion triggered by incessant rains for last few days,” the division’s executive engineer informed in a press release on Thursday.
The department is making every effort to restore water supply at the earliest, the release said.
It said the main water supply line to Naharlagun township and the surrounding main water supply lines such as Nirjuli Nallah, Papu Nallah and Dam Site have also been disrupted due to continuous rainfall on Wednesday night.
