PASIGHAT, Jul 5: Former deputy commissioner and a prominent member of the Adi community, Tayon Darang breathed his last on the intervening night of 4 and 5 July in Guwahati, following prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife, two sons and three daughters.
Born in 1946 in Rengging village in East Siang district, Darang joined government service as a circle officer in Lohit district in 1969, and later served in various capacities, such as deputy secretary, deputy commissioner, and geology & mining director.
He retired in 2004.
Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering along with all the MLAs of East Siang, including Advisor to CM Lombo Tayeng, Parliamentary Secretaries Kaling Moyong and Tatung Jamoh, and East Siang DC Tamiyo Tatak have expressed deep sadness at the passing away of one of the prominent members of the Adi community.
Darang’s mortal remains will be laid to rest at his Mirsam residence on Friday. (DIPRO)
