GoI official inspects KVK farms

NAMSAI, Jul 9: Home Affairs Ministry Under-secretary RN Singh inspected the Krishi Vigyan Kendra’s (KVK) instructional farm and witnessed the activities carried out by its scientists during his visit to the KVK here on Monday.
Singh suggested to the KVK to “translate its extension literature material into the local dialect for better understanding among the farming community.”
Accompanied by Jorhat (Assam)-based CSIR-NEIST’s scientist Dr Mohan Lal, Singh inspected the kendra’s poultry farms, besides banana, arecanut, pineapple and agronomy fields, and appreciated the innovative methods evolved by the KVK to motivate the farmers to turn their traditional agriculture into commercial profitable farming.
Dr Lal advised the KVK to promote medicinal and aromatic crops such as citronella, lemongrass, chirata and camphora at the farm.
