PPHF to promote Seijosa as tourist destination

NAHARLAGUN, Aug 9: The people of Seijosa subdivision in East Kameng district are making conscious efforts to develop the area as a tourist destination.
As part of the efforts, the people of the area, under the leadership of Pakke-Kesang MLA Biyuram Wahge, will celebrate Pakke Paga Hornbill Festival (PPHF) in Seijosa in January next year in a grand manner.
A review meeting was held here on Thursday to discuss the modalities of the festival.
Addressing the gathering, Wahge especially urged the youths to be part of the efforts to develop Seijosa as a tourist destination using events like the PPHF.
“We need to preserve our rich flora and fauna for the future generation. Hornbill is our state animal but its population is dwindling. We should be proud that in Seijosa, and in the areas around Pakke Tiger Reserve,a large number of hornbills are still found,” he said.
PPHF committee chairman Takam Nabam appealed all to visit Pakke Tiger Reserve. He also sought support from the state’s youths to preserve the hornbill.
Several committee members, including Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary DFO Tana Tapi and 12-Pakke Kessang Intellectual Forum chairman Tayum Tok also shared their ideas and suggestions.
