Students sensitized to effects of tobacco

AALO, Aug 24: The West Siang District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) held an awareness camp at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya here on Friday to sensitize the school children to the harmful effects of tobacco consumption.
Emphasizing the need for organizing such camps, DMO Dr Nyage Geyi advised the students to abstain from using tobacco and tobacco products.
District consultant Yomnya Badak and social work mobilizer Obang Mize explained the ill-effects of tobacco consumption, its remedies, and the COTP Act.
Psychologist Miti Gammeng administered the anti-tobacco pledge to around 400 students.
Similar programmes were also held at schools in Jirdin, Kabu, and Logum Jini, the DTCC informed.
