Training on promotion of nature tourism imparted

ZIRO, Aug 26: Thirty-four participants from various villages in Ziro an Yazali areas, along with staffers of the Talle Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, tour guides, and tour operators benefited from a two-day training programme on ‘Outdoor cooking and logistic management for promotion of nature tourism’, organized by NGO NgunuZiro with support from the Kipepeo and Khangchendzonga Conservation Committee (KCC).
During the programme, concluded here on Sunday, the participants learned the art of entertaining tourists with energy-giving outdoor food, and managing other logistics to add value to nature tourism.
In her inaugural address on Saturday, Hapoli DFO Koj Rinya lauded NgunuZiro for conducting the programme. She proposed developing nature and cultural trails in Lower Subansiri district, and involving the community in their operation and management.
NgunuZiro member Dr Tage Kanno highlighted the objectives of the programme and said “it is one of the steps to promote community participation in tourism activities.
“This initiative started with promotion of home stays in Ziro valley, which has become very popular now,” he added.
Among others, NgunuZiro chairman Pura Tama and AYA president Habung Tamang spoke.
NgunuZiro has been working for sustainable development of Ziro for about a decade. The organization has been instrumental in promoting community-based ecotourism, especially the home stay movement, in Arunachal Pradesh.
