Labour awareness camp conducted

TEZU, Sep 5: An awareness camp cum distribution of kits to the registered workers of Arunachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (APBOCWWB) was organised by the Labour and Employment office, here in Lohit district on Wednesday.
Attending the programme, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary and Agriculture Minister Dr Mohesh Chai spoke on the social and economical empowerment of the labour sector, and urged all labourers to make full use of the benefits of the government schemes.
He also spoke on various acts, including the Minimum Wages Act, Payment of Wages Act, Workmen’s Compensation Act and Child Labour Act.
Earlier, Lohit District Labour and Employment Officer, Lee Ete highlighted the benefits provided by the board to the registered labourers of both organised and unorganised sectors and the process to get enrolled as a registered labour.
TV sets, blankets, solar lamps, boots, mosquito nets and raincoats were distributed to all the registered workers by the minister and other dignitaries.
Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki, SP Dr DW Thongdok, SDO(S), K Karmakar, president and secretary of the worker union and all the registered workers of both organised and unorganised sectors were present on the occasion. (DIPRO)
