Training progs on GPDP held

PALIN, Sep 25: It is important to empower the gram sabhas in order to make local self-governance effective, Kra Daadi Deputy Commissioner S Miji said.
Attending the inaugural function of a two-day district level training programme on the ‘people’s plan campaign for preparation of gram panchayat development plan (GPDP)’ here on Tuesday, the DC said the line departments and panchayat functionaries have a special role to play in ensuring effective local self-governance.
“There should be convergence amongst all the line departments for rural development, and the GPDP should be reflective of the needs of the villages,” Miji said.
District panchayat coordinator HC Tok informed that this year, on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the panchayati raj ministry has rolled out a special participatory people’s campaign, ‘Sab ki yojana, sab ki vikas’, from 2 October to 31 December, to make the GPDP planning process more comprehensive, participatory, and fully convergent with the department’s schemes pertaining to the 29 subjects for the panchayat.
Later, training for GP facilitators was imparted by district facilitator Maru Mare and other trainers from the district.
DPEO Millo Kojin, member secretaries, PTAs and others also participated in the inaugural programme.
In Anini, heads of departments, member secretaries, facilitators and others attended the GPDP training programme on Tuesday.
District coordinator Takam Taring and district facilitator Taring Neheru imparted training to the members.
Dibang Valley DC W Khimhun, DPDO Gautom Hazarika, and EAC Toni Mitkong were also present. (DIPROs)
