MoS apprised of REC’s shortcoming

NEW DELHI, Oct 1: Arunachal Pradesh Power Minister Tamiyo Taga called on Union MoS for Power & Renewable Energy Raj Kumar Singh here recently and informed the MoS that the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has not supplied all the required materials as per the agreement with Arunachal’s power department, under the Saubhagya Scheme.
The REC is the nodal agency for the Saubhagya Scheme in the state. The Saubhagya Scheme or the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, is a central government project to provide electricity to all households of India by December 2018.
Taga apprised the MoS of the inability of the Arunachal government to start electrification of every un-electrified house in the state till date due to lack of required materials.
As it is a time-bound scheme and must be completed by the end of this year, Taga requested Singh to direct the REC to provide the requirements soon.
Short-time tenders for implementation of work in both district and division levels for providing electricity and household electrical appliances like LED bulbs and fans to beneficiaries were in progress, informed Taga.
Singh on his part assured to provide extra financial support to Arunachal Pradesh, if required, for complete implementation of the scheme in the state.
Taga was accompanied by state BJP ST Morcha president Hinium Tachu.
