Gao urges leaders to refrain from declaring themselves as candidates

ITANAGAR, Nov 6: State BJP president Tapir Gao has urged party leaders to refrain from declaring themselves as the party’s candidates for the 2019 assembly elections.
“Almost all the assembly constituencies of the state have several BJP ticket seekers, but it will be determined by the performance of the leaders,” Gao said.
The attachment of the leaders with the grassroots workers, cadres and the public are some of the criteria for good leadership, he said.
Seconding Gao, BJP leader Tana Yami said, “Everyone who joins the BJP should do so with a motive to serve the party and the society at large.”
Yami, who recently took voluntary retirement from government service to join the saffron party, said the distribution of tickets during the assembly and parliamentary elections “should be left to the party leaders to decide.”
“As members of the party, we should be ready for any responsibility. If the party desires, we should be ready to fight elections,” he said.
