ITANAGAR, Nov 14: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has wished the people on the occasion of Nyethrii-Dow festival and wished that the harvest-festival may usher in good health and wealth for the people.
Joining the Akas (Hrussos) of West Kameng district in the five-day festival, Khandu said indigenous festivals are the identity of a tribe, connecting them to nature.
“Our festivals are our identity and an opportunity to connect with our roots. While rejoicing in revelries, let’s take pride in our rich cultural heritage and pledge to preserve and protect it for the future generations,” he appealed.
Pema specifically urged the youngsters to participate in the celebration and requested the elders to teach them the essence of the rituals associated with the festivals.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor,B.D. Mishra has greeted the people of the state on the occasion of Nyethrii Dow.
In his festival message, the Governor said that festivals in tribal ceremonial life bring together the village folk to intermingle and renew their bonds for mutual cooperation and benefit. “The age-old celebrations increase individual and community self-esteem, cultural confidence, leadership, initiatives and open creative space for better engagement in their collective needs and aspirations,” the Governor said.(CMO, Raj Bhawan)
