DAPORIJO, Nov 25: Former head gaon burah (HGB) and renowned orator of the Tagin community, Nyare Nasi, breathed his last here in Upper Subansiri district on Saturday.
His body has been shifted to his birthplace, Nasi village, for the final rites. The deceased is survived by his wife and children.
Assisting the government in implementing law and order in villages, Nasi settled over 700 disputes that took place in various villages during his lifetime. He also educated the people on various social practices, and shunned child marriage.
Mourning his demise, the Tagin Cultural Society said late Nasi had served as HGB in 1973 and contributed immensely in shaping the Tagin community.
People of Tani Tator area in Gusar circle also paid tributes to late Nasi.
