Competitive events held in run-up to Maitree Divas

TAWANG, Nov 25: Over 300 students from 20 schools of Tawang district participated in painting and essay writing competitions on the topics ‘Indian Army – our saviour’ and ‘Civil military friendship’ which were jointly organised by the Indian Army’s Tawang brigade and the district administration here on Sunday, in the run-up to the 10th Tawang Maitree Divas.
Maitree Divas, a multicultural social event, will be organised jointly by the administration and the Tawang military garrison on 28 and 29 November to promote friendship and bonhomie that exists between the locals and the Indian Army.
Attending the competitive events, Tawang garrison commander Brig Zubin Bhatnagar expressed appreciation for the “special bond between the people and Indian Army in Tawang.”
The two-day event will feature a helicopter fly-past and weapons display as part of the ‘Know your Army’ initiative, and a mass band display, besides numerous other events showcasing the vibrant culture of the region. (DIPRO)
