ROING, Dec 31: The police have made elaborate security arrangements in the township here in Lower Dibang Valley district to ensure accident-free and crime-free New Year’s Eve celebration.
Patrolling by police has been intensified while pickets have been set up at all vulnerable locations to check the movement of suspicious persons and drunk driving.
Informing that tourists from outside the state visiting the district, especially Mayudia, have been facing problems in obtaining temporary ILPs due to insufficient officials, SP Sanjay Kumar Sain urged the district administration to deploy more administrative officials at the Shantipur check gate to ease the problem.
The administration has also been suggested to issue a prohibitory order against selling and drinking alcohol on the Roing-Mayudia road as the district has already witnessed many fatal road accidents in the past on this stretch.
The police have also written to the administration to close down all the liquor shops and declare dry days from 31 December to 2 January.
