Training centre inaugurated

MAHADEVPUR, Dec 31: Namsai Deputy Commissioner Tapasya Raghav inaugurated a ‘production-cum-training centre’ here in Namsai district on Monday.
The centre was constructed in collaboration with Barchapori-based Arunachal Handloom & Handicrafts (AHH).
Earlier, certified trainees under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana were awarded ‘recognition of prior learning’ certificates during a function in Mahadevpur Barchapori.
Attending the event, the DC said, “Women need to help each other to become self-sustainable. Weavers should produce marketable products from time to time. Increasing productivity by working full-time rather than part-time will make handlooms production more sustainable for livelihood.”
She also commended the work done by Chanu Creations towards the development of the handloom sector in the region. “The skills earned should be used for productive purposes,” she added.
Chanu Creations CEO Ksh Indira Devi and project manager W Joyshankar Luwang also called on the weavers to upgrade their skills and technology levels to face the changing market structure.
The certification ceremony was also attended by AHH proprietor Dipali Deori, gaon burahs Atul Taye, Prabhat Boktiary and Michimbor Deori, and Roing PWD AE JK Deori.
